With five champions, Danbury wins third straight Class LL championship

TRUMBULL, February 17 — With five individual champions, Danbury won their third straight Class LL title with a 74-point win over Fairfield Warde, 274-200. Danbury’s Gino Barretta (170) beat Southington’s Paul Calo in triple OT, 2-1. Ryan Jack (120) won his second straight Class LL crown while Kyle Field (132) also won in OT. The Hatters had 11 of 14 wrestlers finish in the top six to earn berths to next week’s State Open.
