It’s conference tournament championship weekend with six league tournaments scheduled around the state.
The six conferences have been rearranging their schedules to get the tournaments completed before snow, ice and rain comes to the region on Saturday, according to local weather forecasts.
The SCC and FCIAC will hold a majority of their tournaments on Friday with medal rounds and championship bouts on Saturday.
Berkshire League

NCCC (North Central Connecticut Conference)

Notable: Wrestling begins at 9 a.m. with finals expected to begin around 1 p.m. The last time Canton won this tournament was in 2019, their third straight win. The league will crown a champion at the tournament. Teams earn points for dual meet wins and teams they beat at the league tournament. After the dual meet season, Canton leads with 7 points, followed by Stafford (6), Suffield/Windsor Locks (5) and Rockville (4). Teams will earn a 1/2 point for each team they beat at the league tournament.

SCC (Southern Connecticut Conference)

Streaming: The SCC will livestream the entire tournament on Hudl. A $10 pass will allow a viewer to see all mats, on demand and download the video. The pass is good for both days.

Notable: 4 p.m. on Friday: Wrestling begins. First round, quarterfinals, semifinals along with consolation matches through consolation semifinals. On Saturday at noon, varsity finals and consolation matches (third place).
Xavier has won seven of the last eight SCC Tournaments and 11 of the last 12 events dating back to 2011. Foran won in 2016. In 2013, the tournament was cancelled due to a blizzard and in 2021 there was no season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Notable: New Milford has won seven of the last SWC Tournaments with Newtown prevailing in 2019. The last team other than New Milford or Newtown to win the SWC Tournament was Bethel in 2003. … Newtown scored 249½ points last year and finished second – the most ever for a runnerup team in the tournament.
