Top-ranked Danbury had a stellar weekend with victories over another three victories over teams in the top 10 of their respective state polls. The undefeated Hatters (12-0) beat Simsbury, ranked No. 2 in Connecticut, Timberlane Regional, ranked No. 1 in New Hampshire and Nashoba Regional, ranked No. 9 in Massachusetts.

The Hatters remained the unanimous selection as the No. 1 team in the Connecticut Wrestling Online state top 10 poll for the sixth straight week.

Despite the loss to Danbury, Simsbury (8-1) remained No. 2 thanks to their victories over Nashoba and Timberlane, 29-28. Simsbury’s win over the top-ranked Owls came thanks to a victory by Saul Pera in the final bout of the match and a near fall in the final 20 seconds to give Pera a major decision and four points on the scoreboard.

There were no changes in the top 10 with Danbury, Simsbury, Fairfield Warde (11-0), Xavier (6-0), Bristol Eastern (7-0) and Southington (11-2) remaining in the top six spots. Undefeated Bristol Central (18-0), which won the Doc Myers Brawl on the Hill on Saturday, moved up one spot to No. 7 while Trumbull (11-6) slipped one spot to No. 8.

Xavier had an impressive win at the Meuthen Invitational in Meuthen, Mass., beating Springfield Central and Mt. Anthony, Vt., to win that tournament.

With two Wednesday dates left in the regular season, there will be some key conference matches in the next two weeks. On Wednesday, Manchester (16-3, 4-0 CCC North) will be at Wethersfield (9-2, 4-0) in a key match in the CCC North pennant chase and Newtown (12-4, 4-0 SWC Colonial) will visit New Milford (5-1, 4-0) in a key SWC Colonial clash.
