Sacred Heart tops AIC for third straight win; Dominated by Bucknell

LEWISBURG, PA., January 26 – Two days after the Sacred Heart University wrestling team won their third straight match, Bucknell won nine of 10 matches to snap the Pioneers’ winning streak with a 36-3 victory an Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) match on Sunday.

Bucknell (6-3, 5-1 EIWA) picked up bonus points in six of nine victories. Kyle Davis (184) picked up the lone victory for Sacred Heart (4-3, 2-2 EIWA) with a 5-2 win over Bucknell’s Kyle Indlander. The Bison are 8-0 all-time against Sacred Heart.

The Pioneers had a better outing on Friday night with a 33-16 win over American International College in Springfield. Joseph Eiden (174), Davis (184) and Dante DelBonis (285) picked up pins for Sacred Heart.

Former Ellis Tech start Baltazar Gonzalez earned a victory at 157 for AIC with a pin along with former Montville High star Joel Morth (149), who beat Sacred Heart’s Shaun Williams, 17-4. Former East Catholic wrestler Jacob Marselli (125) lost to Sacred Heart’s Kyle Randall, 13-5.

Sacred Heart returns to the mat with a home doubleheader on Saturday. SHU hosts Davidson at noon and Cal Baptist at 1:30 p.m.
