Jarod Kosman had a stellar career at Fitch in Groton.
Kosman went 57-0 in his senior year at Fitch at 113 pounds winning a second straight Class L championship, a State Open championship and a New England title. He became just the fifth wrestler in Eastern Connecticut Conference history to win four ECC tournament titles.
Kosman capped it off with becoming the first Connecticut wrestler to win a national championship at the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA)’s Senior Nationals in Virginia.
Now, Kosman is a freshman at the University of Maryland where he will wrestle at 125 pounds for the Terps. The annual Red/Black wrestleoffs will be October 25 on campus at the XFINITY Center and Maryland begins the season on November 4 for an open tournament at Princeton.
In getting prepared for the season, Maryland is publishing short profiles about the wrestlers, including Kosman, so the students can get to the know the wrestlers on the Terps’ squad.
Connecticut Wrestling Online has been covering the sport of wrestling in Connecticut and New England since 2001.
