GREENWICH, Dec. 7, 2022 – With10 pins, the Brunswick School wrestling team won their first dual meet of the season with a 67-12 win over Avon Old Farms in the season opening match for both schools on Wednesday.
For Brunswick, pins came from Christian Yanoti, Matias DeBono, Quinn McGraw, Ethan Phelps, Michael Accetta, Enzo Vera, Carlo Tucci, William MacGillivray, Emil Sogaard-Srikrishnan, and Michael Marini.
Jack Degl (150) earned a hard-fought 4-2 decision for the Bruins while teammate Asher Benn (144) earned a 15-3 major decision.
Long-time Brunswick head coach Tim Ostrye said, “It was a good start. We are young in the season with a long way to go.” The Bruins will travel to Avon on Saturday for four dual meets against Hopkins School from New Haven, Northfield Mount-Hermon, Trinity-Pawling, and an opponent to be determined.
