Eight champions for Brunswick at Rhino Rumble

The Brunswick School wrestling team had eight individual champions to begin their season on a strong note at the Rhino Rumble at the Taft School in Watertown on Saturday.

Bruin wrestlers prevailed in eight of the 12 weight classes that Brunswick entered a wrestler. There were no team scores but Brunswick did have the most individual champions. Taft, Avon Old Farms, Belmont Hill, Hopkins, Hotchkiss and Salisbury were also at the event.

Brunswick’s Ethan Phelps went 4-0 to win at 126 pounds while teammates Enzo Vera (138), Asher Benn (144), Jack Degl (150), William MacGillivray (165) and Emil Soggaard-Srikrishnan (174) were each 3-0 in the tournament to win their respective weight classes. Michael Accetta (132) and Carlo Tucci (157) also finished first.

Quinn McGraw (120) and Whip Gorman (157) finished second for the Bruins.

Brunswick begins their dual meet season on Wednesday when they host Avon Old Farms at 3:30 p.m.
