Danbury High graduates Jakob Camacho and Ryan Jack picked up victories Friday night as No. 5 North Carolina State won all 10 matches in a 43-0 shutout win over Duke in ACC action at Reynolds Coliseum.
Camacho opened the dual meet at 125 pounds with a pin of Duke’s Logan Agin in 6:16. Camacho, who is ranked No. 15 in the country, improved to 10-2 and 7-2 in dual meets.
Jack, who is ranked No. 23 at 141 pounds, picked up a forfeit. He is 12-4 on the year and 5-3 in dual meets with two pins.
Danbury’s A.J. Kovacs (149) is 14-4 on the year but hasn’t wrestled in a dual meet yet.
The Wolfpack improved to 9-1 and 2-0 in the ACC with the win, taking all 10 matches. North Carolina State earned bonus points in five victories with a pair of pins.
In one of the best battles of the season, No. 3 Tariq Wilson (149) used a takedown with just 15 seconds left to score a 4-3 win over No. 13 Josh Finesilver of Duke.
At 157 pounds, freshman Ed Scott of North Carolina State gave up the first two takedowns, then scored 19 straight points for a 19-4 tech fall win.
At 174 pounds, No. 3 Hayden Hidlay of North Carolina State used a takedown in both the first and third periods for a 6-3 decision over #15 Matt Finesilver of Duke. The win was the 100th for Hidlay, the sixth Wolfpack wrestler to reach the century mark.
North Carolina State returns to action next weekend when the Wolfpack host Virginia in another ACC dual meet.
