HARTFORD, December 29, 2018 – Trinity College senior co-captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) won the 149-pound division at the Citrus Invitational over the weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Trinity finished 11th out of 13 teams in the tournament featuring teams from all across the country. Sorensen’s title is his second of the winter after previously finishing first at 157 in the season-opening Doug Parker Invitational.
Sorensen won four times with a pair of falls, including in the final over Jarrad Lasko of John Carroll University. Trinity’s Anders Klass (Braintree, Mass.) added an eighth-place finish at 184 with three wins including a pin.
Trinity returns north where they will compete in the Waynesburg Invitational in Pennsylvania on January 5.
Sacred Heart has three medalists at Wilkes Open
WILKES BARRE, PA., Dec. 22 – Sacred Heart had three medalists at the 86th Wilkes Open hosted by Wilkes University.
Sophomore Ryan Burns (125) and senior Brandon Levesque (165) each finished third while sophomore Anthony Falbo (174) finished fourth. The Pioneers finished fifth as a team with 67½ points.
Levesque went 3-1 in the tournament with a pin over Wilkes’ Cole Walters in 2:50 to finish third. Burns went 2-1 in the tournament beating Drexel’s Dante Mininnio, 14-12 to take third. Falbo went 2-2
The Pioneers will return to action in the new year when the Pioneers head to the David Lehman Open hosted by Franklin and Marshall University on Saturday January 5.
