Xavier wins SCC A title, Luth wins 200th bout

Foran’s Ryan Luth becomes just the second state wrestler with 200 career wins.

MILFORD, February 8 — Xavier (12-5, 5-0 SCC A) beat Foran, 41-24 to win the SCC A Division crown while Foran’s Ryan Luth (152) tied the state record for most career wins with a pin. Luth has won 200 matches, tying him with former Ledyard wrestler T.J. Hepburn (200-4), who graduated in 2007. … No. 2 Bristol Eastern completed their second straight undefeated season with a 58-13 win over arch-rival Bristol Central. The Lancers (15-0, 6-0 CCC South) have now won a school-record 36 in a row dating back to late in the 2016 season. Eastern also won their seventh CCC South title in the last eight years. … No. 5 Southington (13-2, 6-0 CCC West) beat New Britain, 44-33 to win their third straight CCC West pennant and their sixth since 2010.  … With a 45-31 win over Manchester, East Hartford (16-2, 5-0 CCC North) captured their third straight CCC North championship. The Hornets finished the year on an 11-match winning streak. …  Amity won the SCC B Division championship with a 46-35 win over Jonathan Law. … A pin from Middletown’s T.J. Pawlak in the final bout lifted the Dragons to a 39-36 win over Berlin.
