Sacred Heart ranked No. 8 in preseason women’s top 25 poll

Sacred Heart is ranked No. 8 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association’s preseason top 25 poll for the NCAA women division.

The Pioneers received 22 points in the poll and are the top ranked team in Region 1. There are eight regional qualifying tournaments this year to gain a berth in the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championship (NCWWC) tournament in March in Iowa.

Three Sacred Heart wrestlers are ranked in the top 10 of their respective weight classes. Love Daley is ranked No. 3 at 160 pounds while Madison Sandquist (180) and Madeline Hodges (207) are each ranked No. 6 in their respective weight classes.

Former Ledyard High wrestler Linda Holeman is ranked No. 6 in the country at 124 pounds for Western New England University.
