Some pivotal matches on Wednesday night

Berlin’s Nicholas Koops (145) battles Suffield/Windsor Locks’ Naser Saleh earlier this season. Berlin faces Bristol Eastern on Wednesday.

There will be some big matches on Wednesday night that will help determine which teams can be in position to win conference or divisional titles.

Jan. 25 update: With Wednesday’s forecast for rain, sleet and snow depending on where one lives in Connecticut, a majority of wrestling action was moved to Thursday. Check our Wednesday results for the updated schedule.

In the Eastern Connecticut Conference, Griswold/Wheeler (12-7, 3-0 ECC Div. III) and Lyman Memorial/Windham Tech (10-7, 3-0 ECC Div. III) are both undefeated in Division III. The winner of Wednesday’s match at Lyman Memorial will get a leg up before the ECC Tournament.

In the ECC, teams earn one point for each divisional victory and one point for each divisional opponent they beat at the league tournament in February.

In ECC Division II, No. 7 Killingly (17-0, 2-0 ECC Div. II) and Windham (13-2, 2-0 ECC Div. II) will be looking to finish the dual meet portion of the season undefeated in Division II. The match will begin at 6 p.m. in Killingly.

In ECC Division I, New London (4-0, 2-0 ECC Div. I) will be looking to sweep the dual meet portion of the schedule if they can beat NFA (17-5, 1-1 ECC Div. I) in a match in Norwich on Wednesday night.

In the Central Connecticut Conference, Platt (19-4, 3-0 CCC South) will be looking to remain in contention for the CCC South championship with a win over Bristol Central (9-1, 3-1 CCC South) on Wednesday night in Bristol. Berlin (19-5, 3-0) currently has the lead in the CCC South.
