Three Sacred Heart University wrestlers and one Connecticut native earned the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) All-Academic Award for the 2021 season.
Wrestlers need to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and participate in the EIWA Championship to be recognized or have a 3.0 GPA and qualify for the NCAA championships through the EIWA tournament.
Sacred Heart’s Jordan Carlucci, Will Schmidt and Dante DelBonis were honored along with Long Island University’s Devin Matthews, a freshman from The Gilbert School in Winsted.
Carlucci, Schmidt and DelBonis each wrestled in the EIWA Tournament with DelBonis finishing eighth. Schmidt had a 4.0 GPA while Carlucci had a 3.7 GPA. DelBonis has a 3.3 GPA.
Matthews, who also competed in the EIWA Tournament, had a 3.63 GPA at Long Island University.
