VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., May 20, 2020 — The 2020 National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) national championship wrestling tournaments have been cancelled. The event, which hosted national championship tournaments for seniors, juniors, sophomores, freshmen, high school girls and middle school athletes, had been moved twice.
The NHSCA had hoped to hold the event on June 30 through July 2 in Virginia Beach, Virginia but it can’t be allowed due to regulations put in place by the commonwealth of Virginia to limit large gatherings of people to limit the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The 31st annual was originally to be held on March 26-28 and were initially moved to May 20-21.
Underclassmen will receive full credit toward the 2021 championship event, scheduled to held on March 26-28.
