AKRON, Ohio, June 6 — Danbury’s Kevin Jack won his first four matches at the U.S. Under-23 World Team trials in Akron but lost in the semifinals to Dominic Demas of VFA, 3-0 at 65 kg (143 pounds). Jack finished sixth in his first post-collegiate tournament, dropping his next two bouts by medical forfeit.
Jack won each of his first three bouts by technical fall, 10-0. In the quarterfinals, he beat Luke Pletcher of Ohio State, 5-4 with a pushout with 7 seconds left for the win.
Jack, a three-time All-American at North Carolina State, moved into the quarterfinals with three technical falls. Pletcher also has three technical falls under his belt so far in this tournament.
