Danbury remains first in top 10 state poll

DANBURY, January 29 — Despite losing two matches to out-of-state powers, Danbury (9-3) remained the No. 1 team in the state in week 4 voting with Connecticut Wrestling Online’s top 10 wrestling poll. The Hatters lost to undefeated Timberlane, N.H., 43-30 and Nashoba Regional from Bolton, Mass., but did beat No. 8 Xavier, 47-30. The Hatters have three losses – all to out-of-state squads. They lost to Mt. Anthony, Vt., earlier this year.

Bristol Eastern (7-0) remained at No. 2 with a strong second place finish at the Connecticut Challenge in Southington. No. 3 Fairfield Warde won five times last week to improve to 13-1. Southington (8-2) moved up one spot to No. 4 while Trumbull (23-2) moved up to No. 5. Montville joined the top 10 after their 39-36 win over then-No. 9 Windham.
