DAVIDSON, N.C., Dec. 16, 2023 – Davidson College picked up three victories by pin, one by technical fall and one victory due to an injury as the host Wildcats dominated Sacred Heart, 39-12 on Saturday in collegiate men’s wrestling action.
The Pioneers (0-6) dropped their 28th consecutive dual meet, the second-longest streak in program history. The last win for Sacred Heart came in November 2021 against American University at the beginning of the 2021-22 campaign.
Sacred Heart had won their last eight matches against Davidson from 2013-20.
Davidson (1-4) got two pins and a technical fall in the first three matches of the dual meet to take a commanding 17-0 lead. Jake Ice (125) and Andrew Fallon (133) picked up a pair of hard-fought victories to cut the lead to 17-6 but Davidson won the next four matches to secure the win.
Fallon earned his team-leading seventh win of the season with his victory at 133. Ice grabbed his first victory of the season at 125.
Sacred Heart returns to the mat on Thursday when they host Edinboro University of Pennsylvania at the Pitt Center in Fairfield at 4 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2009.
