NWCA women’s top 20 poll: Dec. 7, 2023

The top four teams remain the same in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA women’s wrestling top 20 poll. Iowa remains at No. 1 followed by North Central College, King University and Colorado Mesa University.

Sacred Heart slipped one spot to No. 6 with eight individuals ranked in the top 10 of their respective weight classes.

Iowa and North Central each have four wrestlers ranked No. 1 in their respective weight classes with Iowa having 15 ranked wrestlers.

This is a tournament power index ranking. This poll is not based on a team’s dual meet strength. Points are earned by individual rankings with the No. 1 ranking worth 15 points, No. 2 worth 12 points, No. 3 (10), No. 4 (9), No. 5 (7), No. 6 (6), No. 7 (4) and No. 8 (3).

The next poll will be in January.

Eight Sacred Heart wrestlers are ranked in the top 10 of their individual weight classes, led by Love Daley, who is ranked No. 4 at 170 pounds. Teammate Cara Broadus is ranked No. 6 at 170.

Other Pioneers in the top 10 include No. 5 Madeline Hodges (191), No. 6 Alexandra Fitzgerald (123), No. 8 Madison Sandquist (155), No. 9 Khadija Sanusi (143), No. 9 Veronica Whitacre (136) and No. 10 Aaliyah Payne-Parris (101).
