South Side squad wins division title at Tyrant Columbus Day Duals

Three teams from the South Side Wrestling Club in Bridgeport competed at the Tyrant Columbus Day Duals at Spooky Neck Sports Complex in Manheim, Pennsylvania, with one team going 9-0 to win their division for the second consecutive year.

South Side Black won all seven of their pool matches before beating Bearcats from Pennsylvania, 71-3 in the semifinals and Cavalier Club from Maryland, 43-27 in the championship match.

Raekwon Shabazz, Xavier Giles, Ben Zuckerman and Ethan Lah all went undefeated for South Side. John Schneider, Cole Grenier, Caiden Talento, Ronnie Christolin, Jon Dasilva, Dominick Spadaro, Owen Sheiman, Jude Grammatico, Zach Brzoska, Harry Kittredge, Jack Francis, Ryan Schneider, Aethen Munden and Dylan Sherman all had key wins to help South Side finish undefeated.

South Side Blue and Team Tugman also participated. South Side Blue won one match with Team Tugman going 5-4 on the day. Josh Howard went 9-0 on the weekend. There were eight pools of seven to eight teams in the 62-team high school tournament.

South Side had a team in the 12-team girls tournament, too.

Connecticut Interscholastic Wrestling Officials Association (CIWOA) officials Kevin Kiley and Lou Murillo worked the Tyrant Columbus Day Duals.
