Four Connecticut natives to compete at NCAA Division I nationals
KANSAS CITY, March 21, 2003 — Four former Connecticut wrestlers qualified for the NCAA Division I tournament in Kansas City. Sacred Heart’s Anthony Reynolds (197, Berlin), Brown’s Nick Ciarcia (184, Berlin), Sacred Heart’s Jason Cucolo (133, Darien) and SHU’s Rob Belville (157, New Milford) each qualified.
Reynolds finished second at 197 in the Colonial Athletic Association meet while Cucolo and Belville finished third. Reynolds is seeded 8th in the NCAA Tournament.
Former Xavier wrestler Nick Ciarcia (184) of Brown University qualified for the second year in a row. Ciarcia (184) finished fourth in the 99th EIWA championship meet as Brown finished seventh. Sacred Heart finished second in the CAA to Hofstra.
