Four GFA wrestlers in national semifinals; Three Choate wrestlers in finals
After day 1, Greens Farms Academy is fourth and has 10 wrestlers still alive at the Prep School national championship meet at Lehigh University. Four are in the championship round and six are in the consolation bracket.
GFA’s Max Konopka (215), Blake Jacobsen (165), Jeremy McGrath (157) and Jackson Heslin (126) are each in the semifinals. Collinsville’s Colby Houle (150) at Northfield Mt. Hermon is also in the semifinals.
In the girls competition, Choate Rosemary Hall is second after day 1 with 126 points and nine wrestlers still alive in the competition. Choate RH has four in the championship round and five in the consolation round. Wyoming Seminary leads with 149½ points.
Choate RH’s Lily Runez (114), Tatianna Irizarry (120) and Sara McLaughlin (126) are in the finals.
Competition concludes in both tournaments on Saturday.
