Batres will be wrestling at U20 Pan American Championships on Friday
Milford’s Kayla Batres will be wrestling on Friday at the 2026 U20 Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Batres, a student at Greens Farms Academy in Westport, will be competing at 50 kilograms or 110 pounds.
Later this summer, Batres will represent Guatemala at the U20 world championships on August 16-23 in Slovakia. T
This week’s Pan-Am tournament will be contested over three days, with all 10 weights in each style competing start to finish in a single day. Men’s freestyle leads off on Thursday, followed by women’s freestyle on Friday and Greco-Roman on Saturday.
Wrestling begins at 10 a.m. local time each day. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is one hour ahead of U.S. Eastern Standard Time.
