Stanford’s Nico Provo is the ACC Wrestling Scholar Athlete of the Year

Stanford redshirt junior Nico Provo has been selected as the ACC Wrestling Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced in April.

A native of Stratford, Connecticut and graduate of Westport’s Greens Farms Academy, Provo will graduate in June with a degree in science, technology and society. He is a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American, a 2024 Pac-12 Honor Roll selection and an All-ACC Academic Team pick this season.

Provo is a member of Stanford Professionals in Real Estate (SPIRE) – engaging with industry leaders and alumni to explore trends in real estate investment, development and innovation. He has also worked as a brokerage intern at CBRE Silicon Valley – the world’s largest commercial real estate firm. He held an internship with Lennon Murphy & Phillips LLC – a litigation and general practice firm in Westport and has worked as a private equity intern at AIMPERA Capital Partners LLC in San Francisco.

The runner-up at the 2026 ACC championships, Provo placed third at 125 pounds at the 2026 NCAA championships to secure his first career All-America honors. His third-place finish was the highest by a Cardinal 125-pounder in school history. An All-ACC performer, he was 20-6 overall in 2025-26 and carries a 60-26 career record.

Provo is the 10th Cardinal to be named a conference scholar-athlete of the year, and the first as a member of the ACC.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September of 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior undergraduate student-athlete in their respective sports.

Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0-grade point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters or three quarters, while being enrolled at the institution for at least one year and being classified as an undergraduate student.

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team include a 3.0-grade point average for the previous two semesters (or three quarters) and 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career, while being enrolled at the institution for at least one year and being classified as an undergraduate student. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s athletic contests.
